How to develop my career as a Business Analyst?

Your career is your vehicle for success, now and for the future. The world around you won’t wait or hand you a tool-box that guarantees long-term success and an established future. You and you alone are the driver of your own success and to be successful, you need to have a realistic plan you're committed to, and that works.
 
To help you on your way, here are some helpful career planning tips and resources, that International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) would like to share with you this year and beyond.

  1. Recognize what is important in your career and life
  2. Develop a mindset of lifelong learning that supports career advancement
  3. Keep up to date with changes in the work place and your industry or sector
  4. Identify any personal blocks or life constraints and how you can overcome them
  5. Have an unobstructed vision of your future
  6. Identify broad aims and SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-Bound)
  7. Find people who can support you in completing your goals e.g. career coach, mentor, manager or supervisor
  8. Mistakes happen: use this experience to learn and develop a new career strategy
  9. Know what strengths and talents you can offer and how you can add value to an organization
  10. Be flexible, review your progress regularly and be willing to adapt and change
  11. Realize one career size does not fit all organizations
  12. Take control of your career, to remain relevant and employed
