IIBA.org BARM Experience
The third edition of BARM (Business Analysis Rome Meeting) an event organized by the IIBA® Italy Chapter's Roman branch entitled "No matter if you are a pig" or "chicken"! Business Analyst can empower your 'scrum farm' has just been completed! This year the event has had a completely innovative set-up.

In the splendid archaeological site of ancient Rome, the Celio Roman Houses, the participants attended the role of Scrum Master, Product Owner and Development Team within an imaginary Scrum Farm, creating a product box in workshop sessions using Agile BA techniques and skills. Eight work tables led by Chapter Business Analysis volunteers, focused on an assigned theme and built their own Product Backlog and start the first Sprint; empirically understanding how business analysis can support agile roles, facilitating business development needs in a product increment, through value-driven interactions. We also applied a Collaborative Game: Product Box technique to concretize and share group results.

At the end of the intense day, the participants expressed great enthusiasm and consensus for the experience, observing unanimously how fundamental the business analysis professional is in an agile team, and how a business analyst can support the entire team consisting of people from Milan, Rome, Naples.

This event of excellence saw the membership, curiosity and professionalism of 100 participants. But what was the key to success? Of course the energy of the large volunteer team who worked for months in organizing the event using the Agile and BA "levers": self-organized, motivated teams that have put at disposition their time, skills and passion to lead to unforgettable initiative success.

Volunteers have created a winning model by defining a new service: BA Agile Workshop: setting activities, work steps, times, support templates and creating a presentation kit of concepts and techniques to use. Thanks to this collaborative working method, we can train other volunteers and replicate the workshop all over Italy. The published acts (Slideshare https://goo.gl/GmWXJj) is only a small part of the actual experience. Look at the photos (Flickr https://goo.gl/xT1dXH) to gain an idea of the experience.

Success has been made possible by the contribution of all Chapter volunteers (more than 10 people involved in the organization) and our Gold Sponsors, Canon, NTT DATA, PMProjects and Reti. Culture and emerging professions have harmoniously fused to create a unique event full of emotions, ideas, and innovation. Without any doubt this will be repeated as a climate and high value content at the next annual event - the BAWI 2017 on October 23, which will take place in Milan.
