The Standard is offered in two formats:

  • Digital PDF: A portable, searchable version for computers, tablets, and smartphones
  • Interactive edition: Available exclusively to IIBA members via the KnowledgeHub, this version features an intuitive interface and an AI assistant for a dynamic user experience

IIBA’s founding community of volunteers worked to build three successive versions of the BABOK Guide. With the release of the latest version, there was growing recognition of the potential for a more modular approach—blending foundational content with extensions that bridged theory and practice.

IIBA introduced focused standards such as the Agile Extension to the BABOK Guide, The Guide to Business Data Analytics, and The Guide to Product Ownership Analysis. Additionally, practical tools like the Business Analysis Competency Model help further refine and support the profession. For more information, read our update on IIBA’s foundational resources.

The Standard references other IIBA resources where appropriate and, in its digital form, provides links to them. It captures the essence of business analysis and is curated through structured community input, followed by expert and public review. The Standard serves as the foundation for business analysis knowledge.

Currently, the Standard is available in English. Translations are planned, and we look forward to offering them in additional languages to support the global community.
