IIBA and UiPath have joined forces to empower professionals with career-advancing access to business analysis fundamentals.

There is a growing demand for business analysts with expertise in automation. As more and more businesses are realizing the benefits of automation, they are seeking professionals with specialized skills in this area. However, there is currently a shortage of skilled business analysts with the necessary technical knowledge and experience in automation to meet this demand.

For successful business analysis professionals, there are several technical skills and competencies that are essential. A successful business analyst should possess critical skills spanning across key knowledge areas like Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring, Elicitation and Collaboration, Requirements Lifecycle Management and Requirements Analysis and Design Definition.

Automation projects require a unique set of skills and knowledge beyond traditional business analysis skills. Business analysts specialized in automation need to understand various automation tools, including robotic process automation (RPA), Process Mining, Task Mining, and other related technologies. Moreover, they must have strong communication skills to effectively work with stakeholders across different departments and explain the benefits of automation and how it can impact business processes.

In summary, an Automation Business Analyst is a specialist who plays a critical role in driving automation initiatives in an organization, with the goal of improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing the overall performance of the business.

To address the technical skill gap for automation business analysts, many organizations are investing in training and development programs to help existing employees develop the necessary skills.

UiPath, the leader in the automation industry[1], has developed a course that will equip learners with these essential skills required to be a successful Automation Business Analyst. UiPath partnered with International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®), renowned for its foundational standards and resources in business analysis, to offer this course on Coursera.

This course is for aspiring and existing business analysis professionals who want to improve their skills in the era of automation and digital transformation.

Why Should You Consider Automation Business Analyst?
Upon completion of this course, learners will have the necessary skills and understanding to become successful as an automation business analyst. But that isn't all, this course prepares you for IIBA’s Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™).

How is This Course Different from Other Business Analysis Courses?
This course not only explains the ideas from the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK®) guide. It also helps professionals practice using the UiPath design templates. This course enables you to take the UiPath specialization course and certification exam. It is the first certification of its kind specifically for business analysts in the Automation field that UiPath plans to launch in 2023. That means you can get the benefits of exclusively recognized skills in the industry.

Why Should You Invest in Professional Certification?
IIBA’s recent Global State of Business Analysis Survey (GSBA)[2] conducted among business analysis professionals showed that 92% of respondents recommend certification to support career development. The top five reported reasons for getting certified include higher confidence at work, upskilling, improved job prospects, salary increases, and greater fulfillment at work.

The survey also showed that 27% of respondents experienced certification benefits immediately. 38% experienced benefits within 1-6 months, 16% within 6-12 months, and 19% after 1 year. The survey also revealed that business analysis professionals who hold at least one certification earn 15% more than non-certified respondents.

Additionally, individuals who hold IIBA’s Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) certification earn a 25% higher salary compared to those without it. Similarly, those who hold a Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA®) certification earn 11% more.

Another interesting finding is 40% of business analysis professionals reported that their employers have a defined career path to advance their career and develop skill sets. The survey also revealed that respondents preferred:
  • self-study (31%)
  • blended learning (29%)
  • online (28%)
  • classroom learning (12%)
51% of the respondents reported that their organization officially recognizes the role of business analysis. The top industries that employ business analysis professionals are:
  • banking/finance/insurance (24%)
  • information technology (20%)
  • consulting/professional services (10%)
  • government (8%)
  • healthcare/pharmaceutical (6%)
The Automation Business Analyst - Concepts and Prinicples certification program offers a comprehensive learning experience and a wealth of benefits for business analysts. With the recognition and support of IIBA, the program will help professionals grow their careers and become recognized experts in their field.
