Strengthening Business Analysis in Africa: A Collaborative Milestone in Nigeria

Key Takeaways

IIBA is strengthening business analysis in Africa through local engagement, strategic partnerships, and community-driven growth. What you need to know:

  • Local leadership drives impact: Koketso Chaba is leading efforts to grow and support the business analysis community in Africa, with a focus on South Africa and Nigeria, the region’s largest markets
  • Landmark visit to Nigeria: IIBA President and CEO Delvin Fletcher’s first visit to Nigeria highlighted the importance of locally-focused innovation and the role of business analysis in shaping strategy and operations
  • Breaking barriers with partnerships: New collaborations in Nigeria aim to make IIBA membership and certification more accessible, empowering professionals to grow their skills and drive transformation
  • Momentum for change: The Nigeria Chapter’s conference and AGM sparked fresh ideas and energy, emphasizing the need to sustain this progress and inspire positive change across the continent

December 5th marks International Volunteer Day. Volunteering is at the heart of IIBA, without volunteers we wouldn’t be able to continue growing! Nearly all our processes include the hard work of our volunteers.

At IIBA, our focus has always been on more than just growing our global membership. We also want to deepen our impact within local communities. Lately, a key part of this has been bringing on full-time partner managers in regions with many members and certified professionals. They’re on the ground, connecting our global vision with local realities.

In Africa, our very own Koketso Chaba is leading this work. Koketso’s focused on nurturing the business analysis community across the continent, especially in South Africa and Nigeria—our largest and fastest-growing markets in the region. This hands-on approach is already making a big difference.

We're seeing not just growth in numbers, but a real surge in community-driven impact. Professionals are using business analysis to solve complex challenges in their workplaces and industries every day.

Let’s unpack the highlights from the IIBA Nigeria Chapter’s latest gathering.

Strengthening Connections: A Landmark Visit to Nigeria

This momentum carried us into July 2025, which marked a special moment for IIBA in Africa. Our president and CEO, Delvin Fletcher, made his first official visit to Nigeria. He joined Koketso Chaba and IIBA Nigeria Chapter leaders (pictured below) for a series of important events, including the chapter’s conference and Annual General Meeting.

This visit was a great chance for Delvin to connect with the community, understand the local market, and support its continued growth.

One of the standout moments was a meeting with leaders at MTN Nigeria, who shared how important locally-focused innovation is to their success. It was a powerful reminder of how business analysis shapes strategy, operations, and customer experience in one of Africa’s largest telecom markets.

Enabling Access Through Strategic Partnerships

Beyond the conference itself, much of the talk centred on one crucial topic: making IIBA membership and certification more accessible.

Through new partnerships with organizations in Nigeria, we're working to remove barriers for professionals across the continent. The goal is to create clear pathways for them to grow their skills, earn recognition, and make a real difference in their fields.

These partnerships are ultimately about transformation, the kind that takes concerted effort and lots of time to see through. They show how we’re coming together to back the business analysis community and give every professional the tools to succeed.

A Call to Keep the Momentum Alive

Nigeria gave us energy, fresh ideas, and a powerful reminder of the strength within the business analysis community. The voices in the room—from professionals to leaders—set something in motion.

Now comes the important part: carrying it forward. Keep the discussions going, share what you’ve learned, and use this momentum to spark positive change in your own corner of the world.

And we’re not stopping here. More visits are on the way, with further collaboration to come. As Africa’s business analysis community continues to grow into a powerful, recognized force for progress, IIBA is committed to supporting it every step of the way.

If you’re interested in local, community-based events on a variety of business analysis topics, there are hundreds to choose from. Chapters around the world host events regularly, in every time zone and in numerous languages. Explore IIBA’s Chapter Events Calendar to see the full list.
