Receive free IIBA updates and exclusive content!

IIBA® recently launched The Business Analysis Standard, a new publication providing a simplified, inclusive view of business analysis, including the foundational concepts in an easy-to-use format, available at no cost to the business analysis community.

Data plays a vital role in every industry. By making good use of the data they possess, organizations across all industries can gain an edge. However, it’s common for companies to not use the precious data they have. This primarily happens due to a lack of knowledge of the importance of data, the role of data, data harvesting, and data analytics. Learning about the importance of data in an organizational context should be the starting point for any company that wants to create better business outcomes using data.

Enabling Better Business Outcomes, Together

IIBA designed this publication collaboratively with hundreds of professionals within the global community as a response to market needs, to better represent modern business analysis, and help professionals achieve better business results. Together, we have established a refreshed view of the foundational concepts of business analysis.

The Business Analysis Standard replaces The Global Business Analysis Core Standard and now delivers a more comprehensive view of the foundation for effective business analysis and provides the direction for the future development of business analysis standards and resources.

Aiming to stay ahead of the ever-changing practitioner needs,’ this higher-value standard has been developed collaboratively to represent modern business analysis practices and help professionals successfully connect effective analysis to business results.

What’s New in The Business Analysis Standard?

The Business Analysis Standard provides a new ease-of-use format, and the new material includes:

  • Summarized foundational information
  • Information about the mindset required to focus on value creation
  • Integration of agile business analysis to address hybrid approaches
  • Addition of business analysis task cards for better real-world application
  • And much more!

What Has Not Changed?

While there are some great new features to be excited about in The Business Analysis Standard, here’s what has not changed:

  • At this time, there has been no change to the text or concepts found in BABOK® Guide
  • It’s recommended that anyone studying for certifications should reference the BABOK® Guide and the appropriate IIBA Certification Guides for detailed information.
