IIBA Certifications: ECBA, AAC | Read James’ Full Story
When IIBA Ireland Chapter President James Dean earned the Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA) and Agile Analysis Certification (IIBA-AAC), they completely transformed his budding career. In fact, he was promoted soon after… twice.
"After I received my ECBA certification, I was appointed the lead business analyst on my project. Shortly after that, I was appointed a second role as a product owner," he says. The ECBA also validated his business analysis skills, opening doors to coveted leadership roles. The AAC, meanwhile, empowered James to transition to agile methodologies, enhancing efficiency and stakeholder collaboration.
Both certifications gave him the tools and techniques to adapt to change, reduce rework, and deliver value faster. Agile skills are near-essential in a world marked by rapid tech change and greater instability. Thanks to his IIBA certifications, James now has the flexibility to stay one step ahead.
Sylvia Nwoko, Communications Strategist
IIBA Certification: CBAP | Read Sylvia’s Full StoryAs the Communications Lead at Social Development Direct, Sylvia uses her Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification to enhance her stakeholder interactions. It has also helped her understand complex requirements and align solutions with organizational goals.
But her path toward certification wasn’t exactly typical. “I took business analysis training to gain more understanding of what business analysis is all about, not to validate existing experience,” she says. Not only did it sharpen her understanding of the profession, but it also got her noticed. She started taking on newer tasks at work—and finding better ways to get them done.
Her certification journey improved her listening skills, an essential part of her role (and that of any business analysis professional), enabling her to contribute strategically to projects. “I listen twice as much as I used to,” Sylvia says, describing her shift toward a more intentional, thoughtful approach to business analysis and communications.

Line Karkov, Data Visionary
IIBA Certification: CCA | Read Line’s Full Story
Line pursued IIBA’s Certificate in Cybersecurity Analysis (IIBA-CCA) while working at Maersk, shortly after the shipping giant faced a devastating cyberattack. This experience deepened her commitment to cybersecurity, especially in agile environments. “While incidents like that can’t be prevented, I learned that taking responsibility for cybersecurity can diminish their impact,” she says.
With the CCA, Line refined her understanding of threats versus risks, a distinction she now applies to prioritize business-critical issues effectively. This knowledge has strengthened her ability to integrate security into data-driven projects, enhancing organizational resilience.
Certification has empowered Line to navigate complex cybersecurity challenges with confidence, driving value and accountability in an era where technology and security are inextricably linked.
