1. Hacking -- According to Security Boulevard, “The hack is back.” Hacking is nothing new, but business analysts should expect to see more sophisticated hacking take place in 2020. “Hacking will continue to become a bigger share of attacks that result in data loss or system takeover,” stated Security Boulevard.3 “Personal information, including usernames and passwords, remains a hot commodity on the dark web, making successful hacks very lucrative for cybercriminals.” 

2. Cloud security problems -- Cloud security is critical in the prevention of cybercrime. Everyday, huge amounts of data are moved to the cloud. This makes the data more sensitive to attack and cloud security more complicated. “Cloud-based threats will inevitably continue to grow, with organizations struggling to maintain control of critical data and ensure real-time threat intelligence,” stated Netsparker.4 The source suggested that organizations relying on manual security management opt for “large web application infrastructures” to help increase cloud security. This is something business analysts that specialize in cybersecurity may help organizations do.

3. Larger cybersecurity investments -- One of the positive cybersecurity trends for 2020 will probably be larger cybersecurity investments. Company and governmental leaders are well aware of the cyberwar happening every day and are investing more money than ever into keeping vulnerable data secure. “Cybersecurity spending is most likely to be higher in banking and federal/central government as defenses are constantly being battered by the brute force of hackers,” explained CIO Applications.5

4. Exploitation of AI -- AI helps organizations in many ways, but it is something that hackers can exploit, and likely will in 2020. “There are many benefits that come with the use of AI, but it also comes with a few risks,” stated Stability Networks.6 “Like any other computer system, AI is susceptible to malicious attacks. Once an AI system is compromised, the hacker can use the AI to enhance their own criminal activity.” By getting a greater understanding of AI, business analysts can learn how hackers exploit it. This will give them insight into how to help companies keep this risk at bay.
