Cyberattacks have grown rapidly in 2020. A staggering 68% of business leaders feel their cybersecurity risks are increasing1 and more than 89% of business analysis professionals agree that risk management and compliance knowledge2 are essential skills in today’s business climate. So, how can you successfully apply your business analysis knowledge to cybersecurity and improve your technical know-how?
Here are 3 tips to improve your cybersecurity awareness.
1. Stay on Top of Current Trends
Cyber attacks and the tactics used to trick users change swiftly and its important to be aware of emerging schemes. Social media can be a powerful tool in staying informed and following reputable security professionals, influencers, and hashtags, such as #BeCyberSmart. 2. Take a Cybersecurity Training Program
One of the most effective ways to increase your cybersecurity awareness is to take a training or learning program geared towards cybersecurity practices. A structured training program provides the opportunity to learn key cybersecurity concepts and tools to support a safe and secure cyber environment. There are some great general cybersecurity best practices to be aware of, such as avoid suspicious links, unknown emails, and random pop-ups. Use strong password protection, practice caution with Wi-Fi connections, protect your hardware in public places and always talk to an IT/Security expert or your IT department if you think your security has been compromised.
Cybersecurity is not going away, instead, it’s only becoming a more significant issue impacting the business world. The 2020 IIBA Global Business Analysis Salary Survey advises that 70% of Business Analysis professionals report being involved in digital initiatives3, that’s up 10% from 2019, and it’s likely that global spending on cybersecurity will exceed $10 billion by 20274.
