2022 A Year in Review

As we come to the end of 2022, we wanted to take the time to share the incredible milestones that have shaped this past year. There has been tremendous change in 2022 such as market disruptions being the new normal and teams are being asked to produce the same results with fewer resources. The impact of the pandemic has had ripple effects on all of us and, as a byproduct of that, our work has evolved and transformed to adhere to this new normal. With this evolution, innovation has thrived and has sparked new opportunities for business analysis professionals.

Let's take a moment to review some of the incredible milestones that have shaped 2022.

Let's take a moment to review some of amazing accomplishments throughout the IIBA commmunity:

Expanded Global Reach

Continued focus on multilanguage resources and events.

IIBA has been working with French, Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese speaking communities to support the translation of our IP (Intellectual Property) and select exam content to offer these materials to our diverse global audience. Thanks to the contributions of many volunteers, the following translated materials were released in 2022:

  • French: Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™) exam and a translated BABOK® Guide was launched in February
  • Japanese: Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™) exam and a translated BABOK® Guide was launched in May
  • Chinese:  Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™) exam and a translated BABOK® Guide was launched in September
  • Portuguese: A translated version BABOK® Guide was launched in November

IIBA is pleased to share that the BABOK® Guide is now available in a total of 8 languages, English, Chinese, French, French Canadian, German, Japanese, Russian, and Portuguese.

We are also continuing to align our global events strategy with our translation work. In November 2022, IIBA’s Brazil Chapter hosted “Torne-se business-driven", a 3-day hybrid, Spanish and Portuguese speaking business analysis conference targeting business analysis professionals in Latin and South America. Attendee comments included, "Professors and exhibitors with a lot of experience. Excellent explanations on interesting and practical topics with fundamental concepts that we need to know to be successful professionals. 100% applicable learning. Highly Recommend."

Robust, Valuable Content

Shaping the future of business analysis.

With the launch of KnowledgeHub last year, we have been consistently adding insightful and useful resources in 2022. IIBA’s KnowledgeHub allows Members to dig deeper into techniques and explore community-driven content, examples, and resources to apply to their everyday business analysis practice. Brand-new “how do I” scenarios on Choose the Right Elicitation Technique for the Right Audience and Make Elicitation Discussions More Collaborative Than Combative were added to the growing collection of how-to content.  In addition, interactive editions of the Agile Extension to the BABOK® Guide and an updated Business Analysis Core Concept Model™ (BACCM™) were all launched into the KnowledgeHub this year.

IIBA is also proud to have released The Business Analysis Standard. It replaces The Global Business Analysis Core Standard and now delivers a more comprehensive view of the foundation for effective business analysis, providing the direction for the future development of new business analysis materials and resources. Aiming to stay ahead of the ever-changing needs of business analysis professionals, this higher-value standard has been developed collaboratively with IIBA’s global community to represent modern practices and help professionals successfully connect effective analysis to business outcomes. Get your free copy today!

IIBA’s Global Research continued to grow this year with the launch of the Being Nimble report in December. The new Being Nimble research examines the intersection between business agility and identifies ways that organizations can improve their ability to sense and respond to change through the application of business analysis. The findings in this research are exclusively available to IIBA’s Members here.

In September 2022, IIBA initiated the a comprehensive Practice Analysis Study for core business analysis. This study included surveying the business analysis community at large to better understand business analysis professional roles. Through the analysis of this study, results will be used to review IIBA’s Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™), Certification of Capability in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®), and Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) exam blueprints and develop future updates of the exams.

Excellence in Volunteering

Volunteers are the heart of IIBA.

IIBA’s 2022 Chapter and Volunteer Awards recognized those individuals and teams who have shared their time, knowledge, and expertise by providing community-driven content; translating BABOK® Guide and Certification exams; organizing and participating in events, study groups, and webinars (over 30 Member exclusive and over 20 public webinars!); and volunteering within Chapters (including launching Mentoring in-a-box).  We are incredibly thankful to IIBA's volunteer community.

Recognizing Members and Chapter Leaders

Show the world you mean business.

The dedication of Members and Chapter Leaders to professional excellence and driving organizational success is so vital to IIBA, in recognition of this we launched IIBA Member Digital Badges and IIBA Chapter Leader Badges in May and June of 2022. Processes, Platforms and Pricing

We are lean, scalable, and customer-centric in our processes, tools, and systems

IIBA’s Information Technology, Customer Experience, and Operations teams supported the implementation of a new financial system to improve processes for Members, Chapter Leaders, and online customers. We also streamlined the process for a more seamless membership renewal experience.

IIBA also introduced harmonization certification pricing to bring more alignment and pricing consistency across our diverse offerings. We remain dedicated to offering the best value for the products and services that we offer to the business analysis community.
