Recertification

Individuals who have attained the Level 2 – CCBA® or Level 3 – CBAP® designation, hereafter referred to as a recipient, must demonstrate an ongoing professional commitment to the business analysis profession by satisfying the Recertification requirements.
The purposes of recertification are to:
 
  • Encourage the ongoing professional development of recipients, ensuring that business analysis professionals are keeping up with changes in the profession.
  • Encourage and recognize individual growth.
  • Encourage the efforts of recipients to give back to the profession.
  • Offer a standard and objective mechanism for recording professional development activities.
  • Sustain the global recognition and value of our designations.

Recertification Process:

For recipients who have become certified prior to September 30 2016, you will follow the recertification requirements set out in the CCBA® Recertification Handbook and the CBAP® Recertification Handbook for your current 3-year cycle leading up to your recertification date.
 
  • Your next recertification will be based on the new recertification requirements to be finalized and communicated within the coming months.
For recipients who have become certified from September 30, 2016, you will follow the new recertification requirements which will be finalized and communicated within the coming months.

Step 1 – Earning Continuing Developing Units

To maintain an active status, you must earn and report a minimum of 60 Continuing Development Units (CDUs) every three years from the receipt of your certification (the day you passed your exam).

Step 2 – Logging Continuing Developing Units

During the three-year cycle, you can log your CDUs into the following respective spreadsheet, which you can download and start completing from the day you become certified:

Step 3 – When your recertification date arrives

When you are ready to recertify, you must complete the following application form, attach your completed CDU reporting form (in spreadsheet format) to it and submit it:

Step 4 - Payment

Payment of your recertification fee can be done from within your IIBA® portal.  Under the Certifications tab, click on your certification’s respective box and then on the payment option.
 
Once IIBA has received both your application with CDU reporting form attached and your payment, you will receive your assessment results and further instructions.

Wallet Card

Once your recertification has been approved, you can download and print a PDF version of your renewed wallet card from within your IIBA portal, under the Certifications tab.
 
Your wallet card will contain your Certification Number and Valid Until Date, which is the date you are required to recertify next.
